Sehat Sitaray are trained to organize camps, mobilize their communities and follow up on cases in the areas where they already live. Fifty volunteers currently do this work, and the reason the model holds is simple. A volunteer who lives in the village can knock on the door a second time.
You do not need a medical background. You need to be reachable, willing to keep a register honestly, and prepared to stay with a case until its follow up status can be recorded.
Twenty volunteer doctors currently give clinical time at our camps. The organization does not purchase their services, which is what keeps costs low and community trust high, and it is the reason a camp can run in a district that no commercial service would reach.
In return, the organization supports its doctors. Postgraduate research, continuing education and the financial rehabilitation of doctors who need it to complete their training are all part of the work rather than an afterthought.
The Sehat Sitara app is being built to help our Sehat Sitaray volunteers log patient visits, track follow up cases and coordinate referrals, so that nobody falls through the gap between a camp and a hospital. It is an internal tool for volunteers and not a replacement for the field.
Record patient visits during camps and door to door campaigns while the volunteer is still standing in front of the household.
Keep addiction and disease control outreach cases open until their follow up status has actually been recorded.
Route hospital and specialist referrals so a diagnosis made in a village reaches the clinician who can treat it.
A doctor online consultation app, with doctors available online twenty four hours a day.
eSitara puts a doctor within reach of your phone for the moments between camps. Ask the board how to get started.
