Three practising physicians who fund this work themselves and carry it out alongside their hospital duties.

The Board Three Doctors, No Salaried Staff

Sehat Sitara is governed by three board members, all of them practising doctors. They organize the camps, they see the patients, and they pay for the work out of their own resources. There is no salaried administration between a contribution and the community it was given for.

Dr Ihtisham Ullah Roghani

Medical Officer, DHQ Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Previously Pulmonologist at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.

Dr Roghani has worked on medical relief camps across the periphery and on tobacco control in Pakistan, and visited the Philippines through the Bloomberg School of Public Health. His work also covers climate change and health, dengue and malaria control, and welfare for poor communities.

Board Member

Dr Waseem Ullah

Postgraduate Resident in Plastic Surgery, Burn Centre, Peshawar.

Dr Waseem Ullah self funds the organization and its volunteers. His expertise covers research, health professional education and doctor uplifting, and he has worked on and achieved financial rehabilitation of doctors so they can continue their education. He has many publications in the field of surgery, is raising funds for burn patients, and is building an application to connect patients in the periphery directly to doctors.

Dr Shah Sawar

Serving at DHQ Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dr Shah Sawar brings the third seat on the board and a steady enthusiasm for helping poor communities, which in practice means turning up for camps in districts where there is no clinic within reach of the people who need one.

The Wider Team

Twenty Doctors and Fifty Sehat Sitaray

The board is three people. The organization is far larger than that. Twenty volunteer doctors donate clinical time at camps rather than the organization purchasing their services, and fifty Sehat Sitaray volunteers organize, mobilize and follow up in the communities where they already live.

That structure is deliberate. A volunteer who lives in the village can knock on the door a second time. A visiting team cannot, which is exactly where follow up usually fails.

Doctors donate clinical time rather than the organization purchasing services, which keeps costs low and community trust high.
